Serving up Halloween Fun | Christian Children's Authors

My girls are pretty excited about Halloween this year. ?By the time school started in September they already knew what they wanted to dress up as, never mind that Halloween wasn?t for another 2 months! ?We have been busy baking, decorating and crafting, enjoying some not so scary fun around our home.??As with any special occasion, it can be easy to get wrapped up in ourselves and it is particularly important to think about others. So as much as my girls are looking forward to trick or treating in couple weeks I wanted to make sure they had an understanding that there are many children who will not have the same opportunity.

What?s a great way to open my girl?s eyes to what others have or are feeling?? A?family service project!? As part of our holiday activities this year, we decided to put together our own ?trick or treat? basket and deliver it to the Ronald McDonald house in a nearby community. ?Filled with craft supplies, treats and handmade pumpkin bread, we hope that it will being some spooky smiles to the brothers and sisters who are staying at the Ronald McDonald house because they have a sibling in the hospital.?One can imagine that these children may often feel overlooked while parents care for their ailing child, so for them Halloween may not have the?same excitement.? Perhaps this year while you and your little ones are carving pumpkins or making caramel apples, you might consider who else you could share the spirit with!
