Gettysburg College Athletics - Women's XC Ranked No. 5 in Region

Complete Rankings

NEW ORLEANS ? The Gettysburg College women?s cross country team dropped one spot to No. 5 in the Week Five United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Mideast Region Poll.

The Bullets, who did not compete last week, have been ranked in all six USTFCCCA regional polls this season, including the preseason poll. However, after receiving a national ranking by the USTFCCCA in each of the last three weeks, Gettysburg dropped out of this week?s poll after appearing at No. 33 a week ago.

In the regional poll, Centennial Conference schools claimed six of the 10 spots for the second week in a row. Johns Hopkins was ranked No. 1, followed by Dickinson (No. 2), and Haverford (No. 3). Also representing the conference were Gettysburg, Muhlenberg College (No. 7), and Swarthmore College (No. 9). Rounding out the poll were Carnegie Mellon University (No. 4), Elizabethtown College (No. 6), Marywood University (No. 8), and Grove City College (No. 10).

The Bullets will host the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, with the women?s race beginning at 11 a.m. and the men?s race starting at noon. A total of 41 teams are slated to compete at one of the largest collegiate cross country meets in the region.
